Fitness watches, worth it?

FITNESS WATCHES. DONT BE FOOLED.
_
Devices are inaccurate.
Wrist worn energy expenditure devices over estimate the amount of energy expended by 30-98%.
_
30% at minimum! – if your eating back your calories you burned during exercise, you are not going to reach your goals if your goal is WEIGHTLOSS
_
In a study done with two common wrist worn devices the fitbit and garmin, it was found that the heart rate reading was quite accurate and the energy expenditure estimates during low and moderate exercise are reasonably accurate, other than that the energy expenditure was not accurate for higher intensity workouts, so depending on device you may show more or less calories burnt per workout.
_
My point here is that you cannot rely on these devices to track calories if your trying to lose weight. Where it comes in as encouraging for weightloss is when it encourages more overall movement by tracking steps, reaching step goals etc.
_
〰️Quick summary
Pros:

Helps you stay accountable
Nice for tracking your steps for the day and compare to other days

_
Cons:
May be very misleading
It may not be very accurate
Very unreliable to track calories
May lead to obsessive behavior
_
Any thoughts?
Do you eat back your burnt calories?
Did you learn something new?
